How are you celebrating? With all of the social media sites, online bank accounts, business transactions that take place on the information superhighway, and those nifty devices we like to call Smartphones, there is a lot of personal information floating around. So, it only makes sense that we, in the IT Security Industry, are happy to commemorate such an occasion that draws attention to securing the information that customers are trusting you to protect from a business perspective. After all, a data breach can potentially cost millions of dollars and subject your company to negative media attention. And those who like to invoke this chaos by hacking through your organization’s security are constantly refining their methods, upgrading their tools, and making it even more difficult for you to stop them.
So, back to the original question “How are you celebrating?” May we make a suggestion? Prepare your business with a readiness guide that lays out a response plan. Recently, the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) released their 2011 Data Breach and Loss Incident Readiness Guide which helps companies identify, prevent, and prepare for breaches. At Rook, we are also building up our virtual library of resources, so that you can get a better idea of the threats that exist, and what you can do to protect your business. While you’re perusing through OTA’s readiness guide, you may want to check out a couple of our videos that just begin to scratch the surface on the topic. We also encourage you to subscribe to Insight (on the right) so that you can receive industry updates and resources as we post them.
