President Obama shared that Bin Laden has been confirmed dead. How will this impact corporate Information Security & Data Privacy?

With the recent press conference from President Obama, much of the world is celebrating the success of US and coalition intelligence and US Special Forces tactical success. While the US and her allies celebrates the success, IT Risk Management and Security professionals need to quickly re-focus on the increased likelihood of cyber attacks from Bin Laden loyalists.

In lieu of this highly visible and emotionally charged event, Rook’s Team6 encourages security professionals to (1) increase the level of detail and scrutiny of logs  in monitoring of network and host activities, especially at the endpoint, (2) monitor legitimate access for anomalous behavior, (3) re-evaluate your current security posture, especially monitoring, correlation, and alerting capabilities and (4) determine if your organization should update your IT Risk Matrix and mitigating controls to reflect this change in the threat landscape.
